The working principle of the intelligent circuit breaker

A circuit breaker is also known as an intelligent miniature circuit breaker. Its development has been very rapid. Many factories and households are using circuit breakers because they are really reliable. When the owner is not at home, they can provide excellent protection for the circuit. Its working principle is relatively complex and involves various electrical knowledge. Although it seems quite simple on the surface, it actually contains many small components, and these small components form a huge function.
The circuit breaker is mainly composed of five parts: the contact system, the arc extinguishing system, the operating mechanism, the trip device, and the casing. Each part is a key component of it. The contact system is mainly used to connect the circuit and monitor the changes in voltage at any time. The arc extinguishing system is mainly activated when there is an abnormal situation to prevent the occurrence of accidents. It will immediately work to cut off the power supply to ensure the safety of the circuit and household appliances or the safety of factories.
When a short circuit occurs, the circuit breaker will generate a large current. The large current creates a magnetic field that overcomes the spring’s elasticity, causing the trip device to pull the operating system to act. Then the switch will instantly trip, preparing to cut off the power supply. The main working principle here is that the large current generates elasticity, enabling the trip device to start working and preparing the circuit breaker for operation. The greater the current, the shorter the working time.
Some circuit breakers are of the electronic type. They operate on the principle of interacting with transformers, and compare the readings with the preset values. When there is an abnormal current, they will send out a signal, which then triggers the trip mechanism to work. The arc extinguishing system is the key component of the circuit breaker. When the trip mechanism sends out a signal, the arc extinguishing system will start to operate. The main function is to cut off the power supply, by cooling the arc to reduce thermal ionization, and then disconnect the faulty circuit.
When a faulty circuit is disconnected by the circuit breaker, the circuit will not be energized, thus preventing the expansion of the accident. Then, a staff member will handle the faulty circuit. This dangerous accident will be resolved. For users, it is sufficient to understand the function of the circuit breaker. Buying a circuit breaker means purchasing a layer of safety at home, which is very reliable.
