The working principle of vacuum circuit breakers

The working principle of a vacuum circuit breaker is as follows: When the moving and static contacts are separated under the action of the operating mechanism, an electric arc is generated between the contacts. The surface of the contacts vaporizes due to high temperature. Because the contacts are designed in a special shape, a magnetic field is produced when the current passes through. The electric arc moves rapidly along the tangent direction of the contact surface under the influence of this magnetic field. Some metal vapor condenses on the metal cylinder (shield cover), and the arc extinguishes naturally when it reaches the zero point. The dielectric strength between the contacts quickly recovers.
